The ORSI Physical Inventory System (OPI) provides the infrastructure through which systems and procedures are organized in order to conduct:
Wall to Wall Physical Inventory Counting Cycle Inventory Counting Financial Inventory Valuations Inventory Liquidations and Transfers, and Inventory Definitions
The infrastructure is provided for by system modules for central operations, location (store/warehouse) operations and the location scanning operations. These modules are configurable to operate as permanent location modules or as movable modules depending on the task.
The system modules are integrated and designed to interact with each other via internet or dial-up communications. They consist of:
The Central Inventory Module is resident on a micro-computing platform and is provided as a turn-key module. Through it the user can manage the inventory activities at all locations. (For RMS users, this function is integral to RMS).
The Location Module is also resident in a micro-computing platform and includes the facilities to communicate with the central module and the scanning module. Through this module, the user can manage all the inventory activities in a location.
The Scanning Module consists of the scanner (up to 12) and the communications link to the location module. This module accepts scanning assignments to: - Collect, via scanning, item identity, counts and verification information by in-store location - Communicate the collected information to the location module - Accept assignments to continue the task until the completion of the task is verified by the system.
